Child’s Play

2009.01.20

So, as you may have read, if you are keeping up with the blog, I am a pretty big gamer, EQ2 specifically.  I’m a big EQ2 fanboi, but, NOT a big SOE fanboi.  Big difference.  That being said, I want to give SOE kudos for something they are doing.  There is a charity called Child’s Play that gives toys, books, games, and money to sick kids across the US.  They have been doing this for a few years now, and they get their donations enitrely from gamers.  Penny Arcade is a big contributer, as well as a few other blogs, game companies, etc. Take a look at the child’s play site, and if you are moved, donate a little bit.  Even if it’s just time that you are donating, to help get the word out.

Anyways, on with what this post is about.  SOE is doing something pretty cool.  They have a new service (that I’m not really keen on) called Station Cash.  You pay real money for in game items.  Usually just fluff stuff, like cool looking armor that has no stats and you would die wearing it, or house items.   The cool thing is, they now have a pet bear up.  What’s so cool about that you ask? Well, the bear cost $5, follows you around, and looks cool, but, that’s not all.  SOE is taking the $5 you spent, adding $5 to it, and donating $10 for every bear sold to Childs Play.  Pretty awesome in my book.  You can check out more here.

Oh, and, since I’m talking about gaming, Satu, my main, hit 80 last night (which is the level cap) =D
